Salinas Research Station
The Salinas valley is often refered to as the "salad bowl of the nation". It is an intensely farmed and immensly productive agricultural region. This photograph is an aerial view of the USDA research station in Salinas. UC Davis scientists, through a cooperative agreement, share space with the USDA scientists located at this facility. Transportation to Salinas is simplified by an air-shuttle service from the UC Davis airport to the Salinas airport, visible in the upper right of this photo. Dr. Subbarao's lab and office are located in the dark-roofed complex in lower right portion of the research property. Greenhouse facilities adjoin the labs, and experimental lands are located to the left and upper parts of the property.
